A NEW WEBSITE!

As of March 2015, an official website for Surrey Moths has been set-up here. There you'll find information on everything to do with the Surrey Branch of Butterfly Conservation, including the updated events calender for 2015. Hope to see you there!

Not quite stationary

Moths have been very thin on the ground so far this year. I've seen three species so far: mottled umber, spring usher and pale brindled beauty - all at Lingfield Railway Station when I catch the 08.14. I nearly missed the spring usher which was on the overhead information board - apparently studying the train times.

2010 Moth Montage

A little bit of a late posting, but with no moths in garden, I've been compiling my garden macro and micro records and sending my records to the CR. The Smaller Moths of Surrey reference book is to be published later this year, so it's important to get your Surrey micro records in to Jim Porter (the micro CR) as soon as possible.

Here are a few of my highlights, and personal favourites from my first year moth trapping in the garden.

up and running!

I saw my first identifyable moth of the year on our local station today - mottled umber. The attached pic is not the same moth... it was in our garden on 30th December.
